The Man with a Plan: Abraham
The story of Abraham is another story of another man with a plan.
Abraham grew up with his family in a place called Ur, an area to the east of the Middle East. There came a day when God called Abraham. Genesis 12:1 says, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.”
Now it is true that Abraham didn’t have a specific destination; but God gave him a vision nonetheless. God gave him a vision of a homeland that would belong to him and his descendants. As Abraham followed God the specifics of the vision grew more and more clear.
This promise, this vision that God gave to Abraham in Genesis is foundational to much of the Scriptures. But the imperative point is that the results of this vision were made reality only because Abraham was ready and willing to follow God’s vision for his life.
